We replaced the two inverters with the single SolaX hybrid unit which performs dual roles as solar and battery inverter. The customer now has a new 10 year warranty on the inverter system. This inverter has a wifi enable cloud based monitoring system which allows the user to view and analyse performance anytime, anywhere using a webportal or phone/tablet app.
The SolaX unit can operate with a range of battery storage units, on this installation the customer opted for the high quality LG Chem Resu 6.4 EX. This Lithium Ion Battery pack is able to store 6.4 kWh of electricity, in a fantastically small case. Size of storage was important as space was limited in the cupboard where everything is situated. There is even enough space for the customer to increase the system storage with the LG Chem 3.2kWh expansion packs.
The customer is a high user of electricity as he works from home and the property is heated with electric storage heaters. Since installation two weeks ago, 100% of the generated solar electricity has been used in the property.
The battery storage system has no effect on the Feed in Tariff income and export payments are deemed so are also unaffected even though there is currently no export!
